Spring Trend #2: Prints

Our second spring trend for 2011 is prints. There are many different kinds of prints that can be used in several ways. The room pictured above focuses on zebra print. This is an example of a print overpowering the space. We think that it's too much. If they removed the zebra print from the bedsheets, the room would appear less busy.

We think this print is much nicer. It creates a focal point with the fire place and gives the room symmetry. Also, the print is sophiscicated, giving the living area a chic feeling. The muted colour pallette prevents the room from becoming too busy, and the other subtle prints don't take the focus of of the main accent wall. In our opinion, this is a great way to use prints on a wall and on furniture.

This mirror would look nice in a well lit hallway or bathroom. The print is a mosaic containing different colours. The mirror has a flower design to it and would look good with any colour scheme. It's from Pier 1 Imports and can be bought for $199.95.

Prints are great in any room because they add dimension and pattern to the space. We think that prints are good when used in accessories and accents, but a room with too many prints looks overdone and overpowering.
